Behind the Scenes

Is the Queen of Hearts a villain? In which story? Who is telling it?

These are the kinds of questions that Rachel explores in her work.

To be Magically Meta is to be open-minded enough to have a relationship with the world around you: we are both the main character and an NPC, and it’s important to recognize that balance. Using pop culture, film theory, and psychology, Rachel explores spectrums, cycles, and patterns in both her original fictional work, as well as her essays on film and television.

Currently seeking her Masters in Humanities for Film Studies from Tiffin University, Rachel has a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration on Creative Writing in Fiction from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Current Projects:

“That’s So Magically Meta” is a play Rachel wrote and will be performing for the 20th Anniversary of KC Fringe at Whim Space.

Welcome to The School of Magically Meta Studies! Learn firsthand from our founder, Rachel, how the word “meta” is the most powerful tool in our life kit for understanding ourselves, our stories, and the world in which both are realistically grounded. With a dash of sparkle, a glitchy shadow, and a banker’s box full of legos, the classroom becomes a metascape to explore identity, trauma, and cycles. For the magical heroes, the monstrous villains, and the main characters with god complexes alike.
